Land Use

The King William County Board of Supervisors passed the Special Assessment for Land Preservation Ordinance (Land Use) to promote the preservation of real estate devoted to agricultural and forest use. Properties that qualify for this program are assessed on the value of the land for its production rather than a higher fair market value.

New applications for the Land Use program must be received before November 1st to receive the Land Use values for the following year.  Revalidations must be filed on or before December 5th to remain in the program for the following year.  Late applications or renewals will be accepted until December 31st but will be assessed a late filing fee.

Land Use participants must revalidate every six years.

More information about Land Use can be found in the SLEAC Manual of the State Land Evaluation Advisory Council.
