Town Ordinances Pertaining to Animals
10-2: Keeping Livestock
- Unlawful for any person to keep cattle, horses, pigs, hogs or other livestock within the town
10-3: Permitting animals to trespass
- Unlawful for any person to allow any animal to go upon the premises of another person
10-4: Animal causing unsanitary conditions or odor
- Unlawful to keep animals in unsanitary conditions or to cause offensive odors beyond the owner’s property
10-5: Dog’s running at large
- No dog is allowed off the owner’s property unless on a leash
10-6: Dog waste removal
- If dog defecates on public property or private property of another, the owner must remove it
10-7: Barking dogs
- Unlawful to keep dog that by its actions causes objectionable noise and disturbs the public peace. Objectionable is a noise that is excessive or continuous
10-8: Fowl
- Owner must keep fowl on owners’ property
- Chicken, Geese and other fowl permitted
- Only permitted on the property of a single-family detached residence
- Lots less than 20,000 square feet may keep up to (6) fowl
- Lots 20,001 square feet to (1) acre may keep up to (12) fowl
- Lots that are larger than (1) acre may keep up to (30) fowl
- Prohibited fowl:
- Roosters
- Guinea hens
- Capons
- Peacocks
- Peahens
- Ostriches
- Emus
10-9: Vaccination of cats and dogs
- All dogs and cats must have a current rabies vaccination
10-10: Feral cat harborer/caregiver requirements
- Any person who provides food, water, or care to feral cats shall be responsible for:
- Sterilization and vaccinations of all cats/kittens
- Medical care
- Arrangements for feeding throughout the year including weekends, holidays, and vacations
- Maintenance of proof of sterilization, vaccination, and medical records
10-11: Cruelty to animals
